Blackout Poetry Workshop
Discover a new way to create poetry and art that can be turned into beautiful Christmas gifts. No art or writing experience necessary.
Blackout poetry is a type of “found” poem discovered from a larger piece of pre-written text. Using pages from old books, newspapers, and magazines, we will create a poem out of the words you find on the page and then mark the rest of the text out. You can draw, use stencils, or simply cross the leftover words out. The end result will be a beautiful piece of written and visual art that you can take home and keep. No previous writing or art experience is necessary, and all materials will be provided. Discover a new way to explore poetry in this friendly two-hour workshop and create beautiful art to take home. Makes a unique and creative Christmas gift.
This workshop will include a refreshment break. Tea and biscuits provided.

Coming Soon
Stay tuned for new regular groups, workshops and socials including a new writing group aimed at children, storytelling play sessions for tots, a Mothers, Makers and Creative Carers group, a baby sensory group as well a regular evening social for all our creative members and their friends.
What to expect?
When you join one of our workshops, you can expect a warm welcome and a friendly environment. We believe all people are creative and that everybody deserves the chance to explore their imaginations in a safe space.
There will be writing games and exercises, the chance to write and share your work (or not if you’re feeling shy!) Lots of practical tips and advice on how to plot a story, create characters and how to tackle writers’ block.
As well as tea and biscuits because it’s my belief that no writing endeavour is complete without a cuppa.
Our workshops take place in a variety of venues, most recently Okehampton Library, The Ockment Centre, Crediton Arts Centre and Exeter Library.
We can also provide bespoke workshops, away day writing sessions and educational courses for all ages, both for conventional and home school classes.
If you are interested in finding out more about these, or any other courses, please get in touch via our contact page or email moorimaginationwriting@gmail.com
